Christmas Decorating in an RV!

Okay, people, 10AM, Santas coming to town…..

SANTA!!!

Cue all the Christmas songs!

Alrighty y’all, it’s that time again, the most magical holiday of the year!🎄

After 3 Christmas’ in the RV, we’ve picked up a few things and want to share what we can with you!

Let’s dive right in!

First things first, keep it minimal. You live in a tiny house remember?! I get it, it’s hard to keep it minimal when it comes to Christmas. You have the tree, the tree skirt, the ornaments, the stockings, the lights, the reef, more decorations and even more decorations. Trust me, we had all the Christmas things our first year in the RV but thats just not practical.

Minimal storage means minimal stuff. I mean, a Christmas tree takes up enough space as it is! Not only that but when i googled “How much waste is accumulated each year from holiday decor” you know what it said?

“The extra waste amounts to 25 million tons of garbage, or about 1 million extra tons per week! If every family reused just two feet of holiday ribbon, then 38,000 miles of ribbon saved could tie a bow around the entire planet.” 😳

So what can you do instead to help the planet?

Oh I’m so glad you asked!

REPURPOSE & DIY EVERYTHING!

Every year holiday decor trends change. And instead of throwing away last years decor and running to Hobby Lobby or Marshals, why not recreate some of your favorite inspirations! Like these Christmas trees! I used recycled packing paper, $1.25 yarn from the local dollar tree and some ribbon i had laying around the house. This saved me $90 compared to some yarn trees i found on Amazon! Check out this step by step tutorial!👇

Not only are these adorable and easy to recreate; but afterwards, i can either donate them, or recycle them! These bad boys won’t be ending up in our oceans or taking up any precious storage real-estate!

Same thing with this garland! Now these took more time and money. It took me around 3 days, dedicating a few hours each day, and under $15 to make. That doesn’t include the beads they are hanging on because we already had those. Want to know how to make these cute Santa’s and trees? Here’s a step by step video! 👇

Which brings me to my next point! REPURPOSE! What do you have around the house that you can repurpose? For me it was these garland beads and twinkle string lights. I had just enough to bring in that sparkle on the ceiling! Here’s a sneak peek of our RV decked out in Christmas decor! 👇

It pretty much boils down to being very mindful of what’s most important. Have one small storage box you dedicate to holiday decor, keep the things that bring you the most joy and DIY the rest! If you have kiddos, there are some great projects out there and they will love seeing their work displayed!

So get out there, turn on your favorite Christmas movie and get to crafting! Each one of us can make a difference, big or small! And the tiny house will be looking pretty cute too!
